Feb 28th, 2013: Six Week Reading Class for Adults with Disabilities

On-the-Move is pleased to announce that they will be starting up a new series of reading classes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 2013.
This year there will be four 6-week sessions. The class is to all reading levels, and involves a group setting as well as individualized tutoring from community volunteers.
Classes are Thursday afternoons, 3:00-4:30 at the On-the-Move office in SE Portland.
There are openings for both students and volunteers in the first session, which begins on Feb. 28th.

WHO
The class is open to all adults with a diagnosed disability, age 18 and over, who want to improve their reading skills. All levels are welcome to participate, from beginning to more advanced readers. Many adults of all ages are motivated to increase independence through improving their reading!

Classes will be taught by Executive Director Molly Mayo and two-time Portland Public Schools Teacher of the Year, Meghann Kabza, who both hold Master’s Degrees in Special Education.
A combination of group lessons and one on one tutoring will make this class interesting and fun.
