Independence Northwest is Growing and Adding New Customers!

Independence Northwest is excited to announce that we’re adding capacity for new brokerage customers for the first time in seven years!

APRIL 2016 – For the past couple of years, INW and our fellow brokerages in the Portland metro area have been maintaining a waitlist for our in-home and community-based services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In some cases, unfortunately, individuals were waiting a couple of years for brokerage services. The waitlist was the result of an enrollment cap the state set on brokerage services via its waiver funding source.

Each of the fourteen brokerages statewide has an individual contract with the state of Oregon Department of Human Services. When INW was first awarded a contract with the state in 2007, we went from zero customers to 450 in 18 months. For seven years, we have maintained that number of customers, give or take. The only way into our services was when a space opened up when existing customers moved out of area or chose services in group living situations, provided through the local Community Developmental Disabilities Program. However, in the last month or so, INW has begun enrolling new customers at a rapid rate. Our total capacity has been increased to a little over 500 customers, offering new choice and opportunity to around 70 additional individuals and their families in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties.

Thinking of giving brokerage services a try? Whether you’re considering INW or another brokerage in the Portland metro area, now is a great time to learn more about brokerages in general. We have Brokerage 101 presentations planned throughout the tri-county area in the coming weeks. Join us to learn more about our unique services for you or your loved one.

Independence Northwest is partnering with community partners to throughout the area to bring you presentations explaining brokerage services and what you can expect. We look forward to meeting you and answering your questions about Oregon’s progressive support services system! Check our events page to RSVP (by email, phone, or Facebook.)
